Northside Christian falls to Legacy Charter at Phenom National Tournament
Northside Christian lost its first game of the season 63-49 to Legacy Charter (S.C.) at the Phenom National Tournament Friday afternoon, but the Knights may have lost something even bigger.
In the third quarter, starting 6-8 center James Lewis suffered what appeared to be a severe break near his left elbow. Northside Christian assistant coach Joe Badgett took Lewis to the hospital after the game at Forsyth Country Day.
In the game, Northside (0-1) made 10-of-27 shots in the first half and fell behind 37-23. Legacy shot nearly 50 percent. In the second half, Legacy cooled off shooting 38.5 percent, but Northside made just 9-of-22 shots. The Knights finished the game 4-of-17 from the 3-point line. Lewis finished with a team-high 12 points, matched by sophomore Nate Hinton,but Northside was outrebounded 42-25.
Legacy Charter got 13 points anmd five rebounds from 6-5 Garner transfer Jashaun Smith. Miquel Priest had 11 points and six rebounds.
Northside Christian will face Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
