BERRY

Outlook: The Cardinals return all five starters from a team who got hot late (lost 4th round of 4A playoffs) led by the dynamic backcourt trio of Burton, Murray and Scott. That combination should put them in position to contend for the SoMeck8 conference crown and be a factor late into the 4A playoffs.
BESSEMER CITY

Outlook: The Yellow Jackets won 19 games last year, finishing second in the conference, but lost all five starters to graduation and must rebuild a young team that is eager to prove it can hang in the SPC 1A and beyond.
BUTLER

Outlook: The Bulldogs were one of the hottest teams in the state winning 17 straight at one point in the season, including 22 of their last 24 games. With their electric backcourt in Raequan Scott (20.9 ppg) and Orlando Robinson (16 ppg) back to lead the way, they should be a 4A state contender.
CANNON SCHOOL

Key Newcomers: Ezra Tutt (6-2, F, Sr.); Austin Laws (6-3, C, Jr.)
Outlook: The Warriors have a solid backcourt returning, but their lack of size in the post will make it challenging to make up any ground in the NPC standings and secure another playoff berth this season.
WEST MECKLENBURG
Head Coach: Robert Hollis (1st year as West Mecklenburg head coach)
2014-15 Record: 9-15, 3-11 in the SoMeck8 conference
Key Returning Starters: Dyami Brown (6-2, G, So.); Javon McBride (6-0, G, Sr.)
Key Newcomers: Elijah Lockhart (6-5, F, So.); Charles Thomas (6-6, C, Jr.)
Outlook: The young Hawks have an athletic team that is willing to put in the work, according to first-year coach Robert Hollis. But with an inexperience lineup in the loaded, SoMeck8 conference, moving up from the bottom half of the league standings will be a daunting task.
YORK
Head Coach: Michael Gossett (1st year as York head coach)
2014-15 Record: 12-12 (6-6 in Region III 4A))
Key Returning Starters: Wally Wilmore (6-1, G, Jr.)
Key Newcomers: Cameron Jones (6-3, F, So.); Myles Prosser (6-5, F, So.); Malcolm Kennedy (5-10, G, Jr.)
Outlook: Coach Michael Gossett looks to bring a new energy and a new system to a York team with the experience -- led by junior guard, Wally Wilmore – to be a factor in Region III and beyond.
