High School basketball season, for most Observer-area teams, begins Monday night.

The big game of the night is in Concord, where Sweet 16 No. 10 Ardrey Kell visits the No. 4 Spiders. The game begins at 7. There is no girls game being played.

Ardrey Kell lost all five starters from last season’s N.C. 4A state finalist but returns a talented group, led by 6-7 Division I recruit Wes Morgan. Concord has Division I signee, senior Ray Kowalski (Southeast Missouri State) and 6-7 sophomore Rechon “Leaky” Black, the state’s No. 1 recruit in the class of 2018.

Here’s Monday’s complete area schedule:

Monday, November 16

Ardrey Kell at Concord (Boys only)

Christ the King at Charlotte Christian

Davidson Day at Woodlawn School

Draughn at West Lincoln

Greensboro Day at Covenant Day

Harding at Hough

Rocky River at Charlotte Catholic
