Two new teams join the Sweet 16 this week.

Cuthbertson (8-4) is in at No. 15. The Cavaliers have won four in a row and advanced to the second round of the N.C. 3AA playoffs Friday. Cuthbertson plays at 3A power Boiling Springs Crest. Cuthbertson beat Asheville Erwin 49-40 on the road in the first round Friday.

Statesville (9-3) has won six straight games to move to the second round of the N.C. 3A playoffs at Belmont South Point this week. Statesville beat Waynesville Tuscola 28-14 in its first round game Friday.
