Charlotte-area high school basketball players of the week
Lavar Batts Jr, Concord Robinson: 34 points, 10 rebounds in a 96-84 win over Central Cabarrus.
Sarah Billiard, Covenant Day girls: 19 points, 23 rebounds, 11 blocks in 59-44 win over Forest Hills last Tuesday. Billiard was playing in just her second game this season since coming back from a tailbone injury.
Claudia Dickey, Charlotte Latin girls: 19 points, six assists, five rebounds, five steals and a block in a 60-42 win over Durham Academy to help her team to a 5-0 start.
Wendell Moore, Cox Mill: 6-foot-5 freshman had two big games: 29 points, nine rebounds in a 73-57 win over Hickory Ridge and 24 points nine rebounds in a 71-65 win over Northwest Cabarrus.
Miya Bull, East Mecklenburg girls: Bull had a huge game in Friday’s 62-48 win over Providence (17 points, 13 rebounds, six blocks, three steals, three assists).
Eleah Parker, Northside Christian girls: 31 points, 16 rebounds, four blocks and two steals in a 55-49 win over Concord First Assembly.
Ryan Schwieger, Weddington: Had 22 points, 20 rebounds in a 64-44 win over Parkwood and 32 points, eight rebounds in a 57-41 win over Charlotte Christian.
Bella Sheprow and Hannah Gordon, Metrolina Christian girls: 21 points, 10 rebounds, five assists for Sheprow and 13 points, 21 rebounds and 10 blocks for Gordon in 53-52 win over North Raleigh Christian. Metrolina trailed by 12 with four minutes to play.
Marcus Thomas, Independence: Senior guard had 33 points, nine rebounds and two steals in an 89-86 loss to AC Flora at the Southeast National Hoops Festival at Vance on Saturday.
