2015 All-Observer Boys/Girls Cross-Country Teams

All Charlotte Observer Boys Cross Country First Team

Mitchell Resor, Weddington, Sr.: University of North Carolina signee set a school and personal record with 15:23 to win Providence Invitational, also won SCC title, 3A Midwest Regional crown and was 3A state runner-up.

Alex Cornwell, Hickory Ridge, Sr.: Charlotte 49ers’ signee ran an Observer-area best 15:22.5 (also personal-best) to finish as South Piedmont conference runner-up, also finished 4th at 3A Midwest Regional, 4th at 3A state meet.

Matthew Conner, Weddington, Sr.: Another 49ers’-bound runner was runner-up at the Union County, SCC and 3A Midwest Regional races, finished 4th at 3A state meet, also ran personal-best 15:24.4 at the Adidas Challenge.

Alex Hazan, Weddington, Sr.: Another standout Warrior finished 3rd at Union County championships, 5th at SCC championships, 3rd at 3A Midwest Regionals, 26th at states, ran personal-best 15:41 at Providence Invitational.

Jack Mastandrea, Lake Norman, Sr.: Wildcats’ No. 1 was the North Piedmont conference champion (NPC), 4A West Regional runner-up, finished 23rd at states, ran personal-best 15:58 at Providence Invitational.

Tanner Sutter, Providence, Sr.: Ran personal-best 15:59 at Providence Invitational, also finished 3rd at both Southwestern 4A (SW4A) championships and 4A West Regional meets.

Hayden Blalock, Providence, Jr.: Also ran personal-best 15:59 at Providence Invitational, finishing 4th in the SW4A championships, 5th at 4A West Regional.

Haywood Ferguson, South Mecklenburg, So.: SoMeck8 conference champion, ran personal-best 16:08 to win 4A West Regional.

Jack Ratterree, Charlotte Latin, Sr.: CISAA conference runner-up also finished 6th at NCISAA 3A state meet, ran personal-best 15:59.20 at Hare and Hounds’ Invitational.

Noah Dolhare, Providence Day, So.: Charger sophomore had a strong finish to his season, winning the CISAA conference championship, before running a personal-best 16:02.5 to take 3rd at the NCISAA 3A state meet.

Colton Jordan, Weddington, Sr.: Another key piece to the dominant, Weddington team was SCC runner-up, finishing 6th at 3A Midwest Regionals, 7th at 3A states, ran personal-record of 16:09 at Providence Invitational.

Austin Hilburn, North Lincoln, Jr.: NPC runner-up was also 6th at 3A Midwest Regional, 7th at 3A state meet, ran personal-best 16:09 at Providence Invitational.

All Charlotte Observer Girls Cross Country First Team

Brittany Stanley, Mount Pleasant, Sr.: Rocky River conference, Cabarrus County champion ran an Observer area-best, personal-best 18:13.70 to win 2A Midwest Regional.

Lexi King, Marvin Ridge, Jr.: Southern Carolinas’ conference (SCC), 3A Midwest Regional champion finished fourth at 3A state meet.

Jena Metwalli, Cannon School, Sr.: University of Michigan signee ran a personal-best 18:35 to win CISAA conference championships, also finished as NCISAA 3A state runner-up.

Izzy Evely, Lake Norman Charter, So.: Big South conference champion (personal-best 18:37.34) was 2A West Regional champion, 4th at the state meet.

Paige McKinney, Hough, Sr.: Husky senior was a consistent contender, finishing 3rd in the MECKA 4A conference championships, 4th at 4A West Regional and 14th at the 4A state meet, running a personal-best 18:39 in the Providence Invitational.

Mariah Howlett, Lake Norman Charter, So.: Another dynamic Knights’ runner was Big South conference and 2A West Regional runner-up, while finished 3rd at the 2A state meet and running a personal-best 18:42 at Providence Invitational.

Olivia Paxton, South Pointe (SC), Sr.: Winthrop commit going to run for her father, Ben (Winthrop head track coach), finishing her prep cross country career with a bang, including a 4th-place at AAA state meet, personal-best 18:45 to win the AAA Upper state title.

Kayla Glova, Providence, Sr.: 4A West Regional champion finished 11th at 4A state meet, ran a season-best 18:48 at Providence Invitational.

Melissa Zammitti, Davidson Day, Jr.: Patriots’ standout was NCISAA 2A state runner-up in season-best 18:49.80.

Claire Strickler, Providence, Sr.: SoMeck8 conference champion, also finished 5th at 4A West Regional, and ran a personal-best 18:50 at the Providence Invitational.

Sarah Latour, Cuthbertson, Sr.: SCC and Union County runner-up also ran a personal-best 18:58 to finish as 3A Midwest Regional runner-up.

Tasha Regan, Hopewell, Sr.: MECKA 4A conference champion also 4A West Regional runner-up in personal-record 19:04, finished 20th at 4A state meet.
