Saturday’s Boys Roundup
Charlotte Christian 64, David Crockett (VA) 62: Sophomore guard Josh Price, son of Charlotte 49ers coach Mark Price, hit the game-winning 3-point shot with 2.8 seconds left in Christian’s upset win over the No. 11-ranked 3A team from Tennessee. David Crockett guard Patrick Good -- who had 44 points in a 98-93 loss to No. 1 Providence Day Friday -- had a game-high 21. Christian got 14 points from freshman guard J.C. Tharrington, 12 from Kyle Mason. Price finished with eight points.

— Dean Hardy (@DeanHardy23) December 19, 2015 Charlotte Christian led by 10 at halftime, but coach Shonn Brown warned his team that David Crockett, which made 18 three-point shots against Providence Day, would eventually make some Saturday. David Crockett got the lead with a three late in the game and Christian nearly fumbled the ball away before a Knight dove on it and Brown called timeout with 2.8 seconds left.
He called a play for Price, thinking that David Crockett would cover up Tharrington and Terrelle Brown, who led the Knights in scoring.
“I said to Josh, ‘It doesn’t matter if you haven’t been in the game the last four or five minutes,’” Brown said. “I said, ‘You’re money. You get it and you let it go.’”
Price found himself wide open in the corner off Brown’s designed inbounds play. Price let it go. And like his coach said, he was money.
“When it went up,” Brown said, “I knew it was going in. Those are big moments. To beat a team of that magnitude with our young guys is huge. They came to work today and their work paid off.”
Greenforest (GA) Christian 59, No. 1 Providence Day 58: Providence Day 6-8 forward Isaac Johnson hit a twisting layup with 13 seconds left to give his team a 58-57 lead, after rallying from as many as 18 points down. But Greenforest, ranked No. 11 nationally by MaxPreps, got an 18-foot jump shot from New Hampshire recruit John Ogwuuche with one secondleft to prevent the upset and end a 10-game win streak for Providence Day (10-3). Josh Howard had 15 points, seven rebounds and four steals for Providence Day and Devon Dotson added 11 points, four rebounds and four steals. Greenforest (10-0) got 15 from Ogwuuche, a 6-3 senior, and 21 from junior point guard Justin Forrest, son of former Georgia Tech and NBA star James Forrest.
No. 6 Concord 85, No. 16 Forest Hills 76: Concord trailed by 14 in the third quarter but rallied to win in overtime. Hamsah Nasirildeen had 30 points, Rechon Black had 17 and Ray Kowalski 17 for the Spiders (7-1). Nasirildeen, a 6-5 junior, has five football scholarship offers. He plays free safety and wide receiver. Zaccheus Rorie had 19 and Nas Tyson 18 for Forest Hills (8-1), which played without starting point guard Tyrese Barbour (hip).
Carmel Christian 69, Gaston Day 54: Carmel Christian led 22-12 after the first quarter and cruised. Myles Pierre (17 points, five rebounds) and Zach Prevette (12 points, six rebounds, four assists) had big games for Carmel Christian. Gaston Day got 22 points from 6-5 sophomore forward Quan McCluney.
Charlotte Latin 69, SouthLake Christian 52: Caleb Jordan had 13 points and nine assists to lead the Hawks. Myles Monroe and Brett Carter had 12 points each for SouthLake.
Lancaster (SC) 47, No. 10 South Mecklenburg 43: One day after losing by 40 to No. 7 Butler, Lancaster rebounded with a win Saturday. Khayleb Connelly had 15 for South Meck.
Woodberry Forest (VA) 64, Christ The King 47: Joe Foley had 27 points to lead Woodberry (1-6) to its first win of the season. Woodberry is coached by former Wake Forest player Craig Dawson. Scott Harvey added 16 points, seven rebounds for CTK.
