7 players from Mecklenburg County on N.C. Associated Press all-state football team
Seven players from Mecklenburg County high schools earned spots on the 2015 N.C. Associated Press all-state football team. The team was voted by a panel of 18 media members.
On offense, Mallard Creek tight end Thad Moss and Mallard Creek offensive lineman Eric Douglas were voted onto the team. On defense, Mallard Creek linebackers Josh Brown and Theron Ingram were joined by Charlotte Catholic linebacker Xander Gagnon. Also making the team were Hough defensive back Marquill Osborne and Providence punter Austin Kent.
In all, 13 Observer-area players made the team.
In addition to the Mecklenburg County group, East Lincoln QB Chazz Surratt and receiver Sage Surratt made the offensive team along with South Iredell lineman Alex Gourley and Mountain Island Charter athlete Aapri Washington. Area players on defense included Monroe defensive back Desmen Robinson and Weddington kicker Keith Duncan.
