Sun Valley’s Sam Howell, Northwestern’s Jamario Holley make MaxPreps freshman All-America team

Two Observer-area players made the MaxPreps freshman All-American team, which was released Wednesday.

Rock Hill Northwestern receiver Jamario Holley (5-10, 165) and Sun Valley QB Sam Howell (6-2, 200) both made first team offense.

Howell caught 70 passes for 946 yards and 11 touchdowns for the S.C. 4A state champs. Howell threw for 3,541 yards and 35 touchdowns. He was named Southern Carolina 3A offensive player of the year and set school-records for single-season passing yards and touchdowns.
