Vance routs Fayetteville’s Northwood Temple at Queen City Holiday Classic Wednesday

Vance High, which is hosting the Queen City Holiday Classic, had a great finale Wednesday, beating Fayetteville Northwood Temple 72-31.

Vance led 17-11 after the first quarter but outscored Northwood 29-4 in the second quarter. And in the second half, Northwood Temple (10-4) only scored 16 points.

Vance’s Cam Hamilton capped off a brilliant tournament with 19 points, 10 assists and eight steals. Vance made 21-of-32 2-point field goals and 8-of-13 3-point field goals. Vance’s Tysheen Rabouin made 5-of-6 shots and had 14 points. Julius Simmons and Marcus Neal had 10 points each.

Josh Nickleberry had 10 points for Northwood.

▪ The Queen City Classic was a round-robin event with each team playing three games. It was not set up in a tournament format.

Christ School 72, Carmel Christian 55: Matt Halvorsen had 28 points and Christ School (9-6) won for the fifth time in six games. The game was close going into the fourth quarter, but Christ School outscored Carmel 22-9 in the final quarter. Freshman Myles Pierre (16 points) and senior Mac Brydon (12 points, 17 rebounds) led Carmel.

Raleigh Millbrook 85, Coolidge 67: Millbrook (12-0) stayed unbeaten with another easy win Wednesday. Jordan Whitfield led Millbrook with 20 points, 10 assists and five rebounds.

Columbia (SC) Ridge View 59, Hopewell 56: Xavier Mason had 14, Cainan Griffin 10 and Kaiden Rice 11 in a narrow win. Hopewell got 13 from Brian Smart and 11 from Tre Faison.
