3 teams join Observer boys’ basketball Sweet 16 poll
Every season, there usually is a lot of shuffling in the Observer’s Sweet 16 poll during the Christmas break, when many teams are playing holiday tournaments. This is no different.
In the first poll since Dec. 14, three teams join in:
▪ No. 9 Hough has won seven in a row after beating rival West Charlotte on the road Tuesday.
▪ Also among the top 10 is No. 10 Fort Mill. Fort Mill has won three in a row and 11 of its past 12.
▪ No. 15 Independence has won three straight to run its record to 11-4. The Patriots return to the poll after being ranked earlier.
Providence Day, which was No. 1 in preseason, holds onto the spot for another week. The Chargers became the first local team to win the national bracket of the Hoodies House tournament last month. Providence Day is ranked No. 15 in the Ball Is Life/Fab 50 national rankings.
