Three Observer-area players -- Mallard Creek’s Moss, Brown; Weddington’s Duncan -- make MaxPreps All-America football team
Three Observer-area players made the 2015 MaxPreps All-America football team, which was announced Friday.
Mallard Creek tight end Thaddeus Moss, Weddington kicker Keith Duncan and Mallard Creek linebacker Josh Brown all made first team. All three players were named Associated Press all-state and made the All-Observer first-team on offense or defense. Brown, a Florida State recruit, was All-Observer defensive player of the year.
▪ Duncan, a 5-foot-9, 160-pound senior has committed to Furman. Duncan set a state record for the most field goals in a season (22). Of his makes, five were from 50 yards or more. Duncan made all 58 of his point-after touchdown attempts, had 67 touchbacks on kickoffs and holds the N.C. career record for made field goals.
▪ Moss, who plans to announce his final four schools Friday at 2 p.m., caught 58 passes for 885 yards and 13 touchdowns. Moss, a 6-4, 260-pound senior, is considered a four-star national recruit.

He also had an interception and 12 quarterback hurries despite nearly constant double teams. Brown has been named an East captain for Saturday’s U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio.
