RALEIGH – The 2016 NCHSAA 3A Swimming & Diving Championships kicked off at Pullen Aquatic Center in Raleigh with the diving portion of the competition. Patrick O’Brien of Cox Mill brought home top honors in the men’s event with a total of 296.25. Northern Guilford’s Gareth Williams finished in second with a total of 281.8.
On the women’s side of the competition Nikki Canale, the current 3A state record holder for the event and defending champion, put up a 499.7 point total on the way to another first place finish. East Gaston’s Kyndal Knight finished second with 337.05.
