Independence High’s Justyn Hamilton invited to USA Basketball U17 training camp

Independence High junior forward Justyn Hamilton has been invited to the USA Basketball Men’s U17 Championship team training camp.

Hamilton is one of 39 athletes throughout the country to accept invitations to the camp June 10-22 at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. A team will be formed to represent the United States in the 2016 FIBA Men’s U17 World Championship June 23-July 3 in Zaragoza, Spain.

Training camp will get underway at 5 p.m. (MDT) on June 10, and the team will practice twice a day June 11-17. Finalists will be selected June 12 and a final 12-member team will be announced by June 17.

"This training camp will be extremely competitive based upon the deep pool of talented players on the USA Junior National Team and how hard each player has worked to improve their games over the past year," said USA Basketball men’s national team director Sean Ford. "Our strength as a team will be athletic ability, length and the quantity of players capable of playing multiple positions."

Hamilton participated in the 2015 USA Basketball Junior National team October minicamp and was named to the Junior National team last September.
