Mallard Creek baseball coach Ryan Resendez resigns

Mallard Creek baseball coach Ryan Resendez has resigned, Mavericks athletics director Phil Davanzo said.

Davanzo said Resendez planned to take a similar position outside Mecklenburg County. Resendez is a 2008 graduate of Forestview High in Gastonia.

Resendez coached Mallard Creek for four seasons, beginning in 2013. His record, which includes an 18-10 team in 2013, is 50-51.

“We would like to thank coach Resendez for his time and dedication to the Creek,” Davanzo said in a statement. “He was instrumental in the development of several of our aluni that are playing at the next level. Coach Resendez fundraised and built a beautiful press box for our program...We want to wish coach and his family the best of luck leading his new program.”
