Victory Christian’s Dee Brown steps down as football coach
Victory Christian’s Dee Brown said he has resigned as football coach.
Brown, a former Carolina Panther, was 31-18 and led the Kings to three straight N.C. Independent Schools championship games, winning state titles in 2012 and 2014. When Victory Christian beat SouthLake Christian 26-21 in 2012, it was the school’s first state championship.
Six of Brown’s current 11 seniors have been offered athletic scholarships.
Brown said Kings assistant coach Randy Moss, the former NFL receiver, is also leaving.
“Winning (those state championships) was my proudest moment,” Brown said. “It was a great run, but I’m looking forward to the next chapter in my coaching career. I’m excited.”
Brown played at Syracuse and played two years for Carolina in 2001 and 2002. He played in 14 games in the 2002 season, rushing 102 times for 360 yards and four touchdowns. He played with Pittsburgh in 2003, Cleveland in 2004 and finished his NFL career with Kansas City in 2005 and 2006.
In 2010, Brown worked as a running backs coach at the NFL Summer Minority Internship Program with the Denver Broncos.
