Observer-area players, teams rank in preseason Carolina Gridiron polls, all-state teams

Carolina Gridiron has announced its preseason high school football polls and its preseason all-state team.

Both are chock full of Observer-area players.

These players made the preseason team: Monroe QB Zephaniah Wall; Cuthbertson WR JT Cauthen; Lincolnton WR Sage Surratt; Mallard Creek OL TJ Moore; Mallard Creek OL Eric Douglas; Marvin Ridge OL Dmitri Emmanuel; South Meck DL Jake Lawler; Mooresville DB Chris Ingram; Mountain Island Charter DB Aapri Washington; Concord DB Hamsah Nasirildeen; South Meck K Jonathan Doerer; Cox Mill P Josh Bosnahan.

In the 4A poll, Mallard Creek is No. 1, followed by Scotland, Greensboro Dudley, East Forsyth and Apex Middle Creek. Butler is sixth, Charlotte Catholic 8th and Hough 9th. A.L. Brown ranks No. 13 and Myers Park is 15th.

In 3A, Crest is No. 1, followed by Havelock, Rocky Mount and Kings Mountain. Concord is 6th, South Point is 8th, Marvin Ridge is No. 12 and Weddington is 13th.

In 2A, Monroe is No. 1, followed by Shelby, Clinton and Bunn. Lincolnton is No. 6, East Lincoln is No. 9.

In 1A, Wallace Rose-Hill is No. 1, followed by Warsaw James Kenan, Tarboro and Mitchell. Community School of Davidson is No. 11.
