Carolina Day School soccer 4, Davidson Day 2: Logan Brady and Burke Robertson scored for Davidson Day in a losing effort. Trey Meares assisted on Robertson’s goal.
Lake Norman Charter soccer 3, Community School of Davidson 0: Elijah Corbin had two goals and Connor Hahn the third for Lake Norman Charter. Hahn had an assist as did Riley Benz and Sloan Schwarzenneger.
South Meck 3 soccer, Marvin Ridge 0: The Sabres (5-1) are the reigning N.C. 4A state champions and ranked No. 1 in the N.C. 4A coaches poll. South Meck shut out the No. 8 ranked 3A team in the state Monday behind goals from Tanner Jordi, Collyn Carpenter and Reed Hunnicutt. South won its third straight game and plays at rival Myers Park Wednesday.
Myers Park soccer 2, Providence 2: Luis Romero scored both goals for the Panthers off assists from Jenson Graham and Dallas Baker.
Providence Day soccer 3, Charlotte Christian 2: Providence Day, ranked No. 10 in the N.C. 3A private coaches poll, got a mild upset of No. 9 Charlotte Christian. Grant Kiker and Nathan Collins scored the Knights in the losing cause.
Monday’s Fall Sports Heroes
Katie Bender, Nicole Dalrymple, Ashley Duncan, Providence volleyball: each had five kills for the Panthers (6-1) in a 3-0 win over Harding. Providence plays at state power Hough Tuesday afternoon.
Madison Thorpe, Erin Hundley, Asha English, Butler volleyball: in a 3-2 win over East Meck, Thorpe had 13 kills, Hundley 10 and English had 25 assists.
Zoe Weatherington, Charlotte Country Day volleyball: 17 kills, 14 digs, seven assists for the Bucs (2-11) in a 3-0 loss to United Faith (3-1).
Lilly Whitman, Carolyn Blackman, Charlotte Country Day field hockey: two goals each in a 9-0 win over Carolina Day.
