Charlotte Catholic’s Kenkel, Harn continue to shine in girls’ golf

Two of North Carolina’s best girls’ golfers led Charlotte Catholic to an easy victory against South Mecklenburg on Wednesday at Ballantyne Country Club.

Keri Kenkel and Michelle Harn, who both finished in the top 11 at last year’s NCHSAA 4A tournament, scored 35 and 37 respectively over nine holes to help the Cougars to a 124-173 win.

Leading South Mecklenburg was Erin Gleason, who shot 55.

Country Day upends Ardrey Kell in field hockey

Reigning NCISAA runner-up Charlotte Country Day beat Ardrey Kell 4-0 in a field hockey game Wednesday.

Avery Scheurer, Caroline Jones, Mary Thompson Charlebois and Lawson Park each scored for Country Day, and Doris Ellis, Ellen Ambler Moseley and Caroline Funderburg each had an assist.

Myers Park downs Christ Church

Megan Frost, Sophie Levinson and Barbara Eurpides each scored two goals to help Myers Park to a 10-0 victory against Christ Church Episcopal.

Caroline Wick, Davy Rayner, Claire McCall and Shields Norvell each scored a goal to help the Mustangs, who finished runner-up at the N.C. Field Hockey Association state tournament last year.
