More Banana Ball! Bank of America Stadium to host second Savannah Bananas game

As the late Ernie Banks said, “Let’s play two!”

And that’s what the Savannah Bananas will do at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium in early June.

The Charlotte Sports Foundation and Tepper Sports & Entertainment announced Thursday that the Bananas will add a second game in Charlotte as part of the Banana Ball World Tour.

The Savannah Bananas, with their unique form of baseball/entertainment, previously had been scheduled to play in Charlotte on Friday, June 6.

Now a June 7 date has been added, due to overwhelming demand, according to event organizers.

Bank of America Stadium is among three large football venues that will host Bananas games, along with the Tennessee Titans’ Nissan Stadium in Nashville and Memorial Stadium in Clemson.

“The excitement we have seen around the Savannah Bananas playing in Charlotte demonstrates the power of Banana Ball and the passion of their fans,” said Danny Morrison, executive director of Charlotte Sports Foundation.

“We are thrilled to welcome the Bananas and Party Animals to the Queen City for a second night and appreciate everyone who helped make it happen.”

Tickets will be available via lottery to fans who previously registered to see the Bananas at their June 6 game.

Savannah Bananas games are one part baseball, two parts entertainment. You’re as likely to see a choreographed dance routine in the infield as a force play.

This will mark the first time Bank of America Stadium has been the site of a baseball game, but the uptown facility also has housed international soccer, live concerts and high school and college football, in addition to the Carolina Panthers.
