Yoan Moncada's homer leads Charlotte Knights to 3-1 win over Gwinnett Braves
Yoan Moncada hit a solo home run in the fifth inning, leading the Charlotte Knights to a 3-1 win over the Gwinnett Braves on Friday.
The home run by Moncada broke a scoreless tie.
After Charlotte added two runs in the sixth on a single by Jason Bourgeois, the Braves cut into the deficit in the eighth inning when Carlos Franco hit a solo home run.
Charlotte starter Carson Fulmer (6-3) picked up the win after allowing just four hits over five scoreless innings. Opposing starter Kris Medlen (0-1) took the loss in the International League game after allowing three runs and five hits over 5 2/3 innings. Bobby Parnell retired the side in order for his first save of the season.
For the Braves, Franco homered and singled. Jace Peterson tripled and singled.
