Charlotte Knights fall 9-4 to Durham Bulls despite strong outing from Yoan Moncada
Willy Adames scored on a groundout in the first inning, leading the Durham Bulls to a 9-4 win over the Charlotte Knights on Friday.
Adames scored on the play to give the Bulls a 1-0 lead after he reached base with a triple.
With the score tied 1-1 in the fourth, the Bulls took the lead for good when Casey Gillaspie hit a two-run double.
Durham right-hander Hunter Wood (1-0) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing three runs on five hits over six innings.
Knights starter Carlos Rodon (0-3) took the loss in the International League game after a rough outing in which he allowed eight runs and five hits over 4 1/3 innings.
Yoan Moncada homered, tripled and singled, scoring three runs and driving home a couple for the Knights.
Durham improved to 9-2 against Charlotte this season.
