Matt Tuiasosopo had a grand slam among his three hits for the Charlotte Knights against the Gwinnett Braves in a 5-1 victory on Saturday night.
The Knights had faced Gwinnett pitcher Mike Foltynewicz (1-5) quietly through five innings but came on hard in the sixth. Micah Johnson walked with one out to get the rally going. Tyler Saladino singled and moved him to second, but Johnson was caught stealing third with Jason Coats at bat.
With two out, Coates reached on an error and Saladino moved to third. Matt Davidson walked and Tuiasosopo hit a grand slam to left, his sixth home run of the season.
Tuiasosopo had a grand slam against the Braves last Aug. 18 in a 17-4 win at home. In that game, he went 2-for-5 with a run and five RBIs.

Tuiasosopo thrilled a record home crowd in a fireworks night Charlotte on May 29 with his own fireworks – a grand slam and a second home run against the Lehigh IronPigs in a 7-5 win.
Shawn Haviland (4-4) pitched one-hit ball for six innings for the Knights.
The Knights (46-37) are a game and a half back of the Norfolk Tides (46-34) in the International League South after Saturday’s win.
The Knights take on the Braves in the second game of their three-game series on Sunday at 2:05 p.m.
▪ Infielder Leury Garcia was placed on Charlotte’s disabled list on June 24. He is hitting .286 (63-for-220) with 31 runs scored, 12 doubles, one home run, 17 RBIs, and 23 stolen bases this season for the Knights in 58 games. His 23 steals are fourth in the IL this season.
▪ First baseman Alexander Simon was promoted to Charlotte Friday from Class A Kannapolis and appeared in both games of Friday’s day-night doubleheader with the Knights.
Simon went 1-for-7 overall (1-for-4 in game one) and has hit .293 (27-for-92) with 12 runs, four doubles, two triples, one home run, and 13 RBIs for Kannapolis in 23 games.
Simon started the season in the Tampa Bay Rays organization with the Charlotte (Fla.) Stone Crabs (Class A) and hit .080 (2-25) in nine games. He was acquired by the White Sox from the Rays on May 30, 2015 in exchange for cash.
