The Charlotte Knights staged two late-inning rallies Tuesday night to come away with a doubleheader sweep of the Norfolk Tides.
Daniel Fields’ two-run single in the sixth inning erased a one-run deficit in the second game and led the Knights to a 3-2 victory. In the opener, the Knights overcame a three-run deficit by scoring four runs in the top of the seventh inning en route to a 4-3 victory.
Will Lamb (1-0) got the victory in relief in the second game, pitching 2 1/3 innings and striking out three. Erik Johnson (2-1) pitched a complete game for Charlotte in the opener.
In the first game, a bases-loaded fielding error by Tides third baseman Jimmy Paredes allowed two runs to score, tying the game. J.B. Shuck followed with a sacrifice fly to drive in what would prove to be the winning run. Charlotte scored its first run of the inning on a run-scoring single by Jacob May.
