Charlotte Knights stay in first place despite loss to Rochester
The Charlotte Knights pounded out 12 hits but fell just short to the Rochester Red Wings, 5-3, in the finale of their three-game series on Sunday. The Knights will return home in first place in the International League South Division, one full game ahead of the Gwinnett Braves, who lost to the Syracuse Chiefs.
A night after he played the hero, Jason Coats had another tremendous day at the plate. The TCU product recorded four hits and was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. Coats singled, doubled twice, and homered. He finished 4-for-5 on the afternoon and is batting .322 on the season with six home runs and 21 RBIs.
The Knights open a seven-game homestand Monday at 7:05 p.m. against the Syracuse Chiefs.
