Scranton-Wilkes-Barre outslugs Charlotte Knights 11-10 in wild game
In a game with 21 runs and 29 hits, a walk decided things.
Jake Cave drew a two-out, bases-loaded walk from Charlotte pitcher Brad Goldberg (0-3) to force in the winning run in an 11-10 Scranton/Wilkes-Barre victory Tuesday night.
The RailRiders led the entire wild game until the ninth, when the Knights scored two runs to tie it at 10-all. Vinny Rottino’s two-run single evened the score, but a strikeout/caught stealing double play ended the Knights’ threat.
Carlos Sanchez drove in four runs, and Danny Hayes hit a three-run homer for Charlotte (30-29). Knights starter Terance Marin allowed nine runs and 13 hits over 3 2/3 innings.
Every RailRiders batter had at least one hit, with catcher Kyle Higashioka going 4-for-5 with two runs scored.
