Jason Bourgeois went 4-for-4, drove in three runs and scored twice Saturday night to lead the Charlotte Knights to a 9-1 victory over the Buffalo Bisons in the first game of a doubleheader.
Bourgeois’ three-run double in the top of the second inning broke open the game and powered the Knights’ 12-hit attack. The four hits increased Bourgeois’ batting average to .447, and the center fielder has a 1.145 on-base plus slugging percentage.
Knights starter Anthony Ranaudo went all the way to even his record at 2-2. He allowed six hits and struck out four over seven innings to lower his earned-run average to 3.03. Chris Leroux (4-4) took the loss, allowing seven hits and six runs in 4 2/3 innings.
Leading 4-1 after four innings, Charlotte (32-31) pulled away with two runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and two more in the seventh. Bourgeois, as usual, got things started with a leadoff single in the fifth. After a walk to Danny Hayes and two strikeouts, Bourgeois came around to score on a fielding error by Buffalo third baseman Matt Dominguez. Andy Parrino followed with an RBI single that scored Hayes.

The Knights and Bisons complete their series at 1:05 p.m. Sunday. Charlotte returns home to BB&T BallPark on Monday to face Norfolk at 7:05 p.m.
OF Silverio promoted: Outfielder Louis Silverio was promoted to Charlotte. He hit .188 (3-for-16) with the Winston-Salem Dash earlier this season in five games. And he hit .136 (3-for-22) in six games with the Kannapolis Intimidators.
