Indianapolis Indians hold off Charlotte Knights 5-4

Indianapolis held on to defeat Charlotte 5-4 Saturday night at BB&T BallPark, snuffing the Knights’ ninth-inning rally when Davydos Neverauskas struck out Carlos Sanchez with runners on second and third and two out.

The Knights had scored one run in the top of the ninth when Andy Parrino drove in Brett Hayes, who began the rally with two out. Parrino went to second on a single by Jason Bourgeois, and the runners advanced on a wild pitch before Neverauskas outdueled Sanchez, who had fouled off three pitches with a full count.

Scott Carroll (1-4) took the loss for the Knights (35-35), allowing four runs in six innings.

The Knights’ homestand ends with Sunday’s 2:05 p.m. game against the Indians.
