The Louisville Bats beat Charlotte for a second consecutive night when Seth Mejias-Brean singled in Scott Schebler with one out in the 10th inning Tuesday.
Chris Beck came on to replace Juan Minaya on the mound to start the 10th inning and Schebler greeted him with a leadoff double.
After Steve Selsky’s flyout moved Schebler to third, Beck intentionally walked Jesse Winker. After Winker took second on defensive indifference, Mejias-Brean singled to bring in the winning run.
The rally nullified a ninth-inning comeback that got Charlotte to extra innings.
Kevan Smith singled against reliever Wandy Peralta and moved to second on a passed ball. Pinch-runner Slade Heathcott the scored on a Jason Bourgeois single to get the Knights even.
Charlotte got no more because Jerry Sands hit into a fielder’s choice double play and Jake Peter grounded out.
