NASCAR driver says there was a drive-by shooting in his neighborhood on Tuesday
NASCAR Xfinity driver Chase Briscoe tweeted Wednesday morning that a drive-by shooting occurred near his home the night before.
“Scary night last night at our house…” Briscoe tweeted. “I let the dogs out and 40 seconds later we had a drive-by shooting across the street.”
Briscoe posted a video from his home security camera in which what sounds like a spray of bullets firing can be heard. He is a resident of Harrisburg, NC.
“Crazy times!” Briscoe’s tweet said. “No one was hurt but a lot of bullet holes in the neighbors houses and cars.”
Briscoe, 25, is a full-time driver in NASCAR’s Xfinity Series. He is currently leading the Xfinity series in race wins this season with five, driving the No. 98 Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing. Briscoe won the series’ Rookie-of-the-Year title last year with one win, 13 top-five finishes and 26 top-10s.
He is expected to compete in this Saturday’s Xfinity race at Texas Motor Speedway.
Correction: An earlier digital version of this story said Briscoe was a Mooresville resident. He now lives in Harrisburg.
