The Daytona 500 is today. How to watch NASCAR’s biggest race or listen on the radio
NASCAR’s Daytona 500 is 2:30 p.m. Sunday on FOX. The Cup Series will debut its Next Gen car during the superspeedway season opener.
Michael McDowell won last year’s race. He topped two of the four Cup Series practices leading up to this Sunday. Fords were the fastest in all practices, with Ryan Blaney and Harrison Burton topping the speed chart in the two other sessions, although not all cars participated in every practice.
RFK Racing drivers Brad Keselowski and Chris Buescher won the Duels at Daytona on Thursday night. Keselowski is competing as a driver-owner for the team, which could face future penalties from NASCAR after their wheels were confiscated on Friday for further review.
The RFK drivers will line up in the second row behind Hendrick Motorsports teammates Kyle Larson and Alex Bowman, who were the two fastest cars in qualifying. The defending series champion Larson will start on the pole.
Four open team drivers Jacques Villeneuve, Noah Gragson, Kaz Grala and Greg Biffle raced their way into the Daytona 500 lineup through qualifying and the Duels.
Three-time Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin is favored to win this year’s race, according to BetMGM odds. He’s listed at +800, followed by Larson (+900), Chase Elliott (+1000) and Blaney and Joey Logano (both +1200), according to the sports betting site.
The green flag is scheduled to wave at 3:06 p.m. ET.
