How to watch NASCAR race at Martinsville, starting order, betting odds

NASCAR returns to a short track this weekend at Martinsville Speedway, nicknamed “The Paperclip” for its oblong shape.

After a Truck Series race won by William Byron on Thursday at the half-mile Virginia venue and a dramatic, brawl-inducing Xfinity Series race won by Brandon Jones on Friday, the Cup Series races Saturday night for the Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 400 (7:30 p.m. on FS1, MRN, SiriusXM).

Chase Elliott earned the pole position through qualifying with a lap time of 19.694 seconds and speed of 96.151 mph. This is Elliott’s first pole start of the season (10th in his Cup career). He sits tied with Ryan Blaney in first in Cup points standings. Both drivers are seeking their first win of the season.

Sportsbooks have Elliott as the favorite to win, with BetMGM listing the No. 9 Chevrolet team at +450 followed by Hendrick Motorsports teammates Kyle Larson and William Byron tied at +700. Blaney and Kyle Busch follow at +800.

Alex Bowman won the last race at Martinsville in October in a playoff even that ended in dramatic fashion, while Martin Truex Jr. was the winner of last year’s spring race.
