NASCAR returns to Charlotte for playoff race at Roval: Schedule, tickets, parking and more

The highest circuit in auto racing returns to the Charlotte area this weekend.

NASCAR is heading back to the “Roval” — the 17-turn, 2.28-mile road course at Charlotte Motor Speedway — for another Cup Series playoff elimination race. The final leg of the three-race Round of 12 is set to begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, after which four top drivers will be removed from contention for this year’s championship.

Its Xfinity Series will run a playoff race on Saturday at the Roval as well. it will start at 4 p.m. and cap the second straight full day of racing activities around the famed race track in Concord.

Here’s what to know about parking, tickets and more as NASCAR returns to the Roval:

Full schedule of NASCAR events around Charlotte this weekend

While this weekend’s NASCAR races won’t hit the Roval until Saturday and Sunday, there are plenty of events for fans that will get going on Friday morning.

Friday, Oct. 11: Fan Friday

9 a.m: STEAM EXPO

9 a.m.: Ticket office, campgrounds open

4:30 p.m.: Joe Gibbs Racing Fan Fest

4:30 p.m.: Fan zone opens

7 p.m.: Hauler Parade

Saturday, Oct. 12: Drive for the Cure 250

8 a.m.: Parking lots, ticket offices open

8 a.m.: Historic stock car racing — 30-minute race

9:30 a.m.: Fan zone opens

10 a.m.: NASCAR Xfinity Series practice

11 a.m.: NASCAR Xfinity Series Qualifying

11:30 a.m.: J Creek Cloggers performance on Fan Zone stage

12:30 p.m.: Spectator gates open

12:30 p.m.: NASCAR Cup Series practice

11 a.m.: Trackside Live begins with appearances from drivers Zane Smith, Todd Gilliland (11:15 a.m.), incoming NASCAR Hall of Famers Ricky Rudd and Carl Edwards (11:30 a.m.), RFK Racing driver and owner Brad Keselowski (11:45 a.m.). Q and A with drivers Chase Briscoe, Harrison Burton and Kyle Busch starts at 11:50 a.m.

12:30 p.m.: Eli Young Band Concert

Where to park for NASCAR at Charlotte Motor Speedway

There are various parking options around the area where U.S. Highway 29 and Bruton Smith Boulevard intersect.

Where to get tickets for the Charlotte Roval race

Tickets for the entire weekend, or for any specific day, are available on Charlotte Motor Speedway’s website.

Admission to the Cup Series race on Sunday starts at $60 — tickets can be purchased online through Ticketmaster — and tickets for children ages 12 and younger are $10. Fans can buy tickets online at charlottemotorspeedway.com/tickets or call ticket sales representatives at 800-455-3267.

What fans can and can’t bring inside Charlotte Motor Speedway

Here is a list of some of the items fans are permitted to bring to the Bank of America Roval 400:

  • Up to two bags per person that are no larger than 18” x 18” x 14”

  • One soft-sided cooler that is no longer than 14” x 14” x 14” and not made of foam

  • Sunscreen, sunblock, hand sanitizer and bug spray

  • Cameras, scanners and headsets that can be worn over the neck, belt, or carried in a bag

  • Seat cushions without metal components

And prohibited items that fans are not allowed to bring include:

  • Firearms, knives longer than 3 inches, or utility tools

  • Umbrellas of any kind are not allowed in the grandstands, suites or The Speedway Club

  • Strollers are allowed inside the gates, but are not allowed in the grandstands
  • Noisemakers, whistles and air horns

  • Collapsible chairs or stadium seats with arm rests

  • Skateboards, roller skates, scooters, bicycles, etc.
