Buyer of $12.2 million NASCAR driver mansion revealed. He has racing cred, too
The man who paid a record $12.2 million for NASCAR driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s mansion near Charlotte is a racing name himself, public tax records show.
Buyer Bob Mueller Jr. is a motorsports competitor who co-owns Streetside Classics, billed on its social media channels as “the nation’s #1 classic car dealer, with over 1,600 cars in stock.”
The Concord-based dealership has showrooms in Charlotte, Atlanta, Fort Worth, Nashville, Phoenix and Tampa.
Rowan County public real estate records list Mueller and is wife, Donna, as the new owners of the 140-acre estate east of Mooresville. The couple currently lives in Mooresville.
Donna Mueller confirmed to The Charlotte Observer on Thursday that the couple bought the estate. She said her husband is unavailable until next week because he’s racing in an amateur circuit at Watkins Glen International.
Mueller competes in Mustang Cup, Mustang Challenge and other events and has developed and evaluated racing components. His father, Lee Mueller, was a road racing legend.
Rowan County lists the total market value of the property — land, home, stables and other amenities — at $10.1 million.
The previous Charlotte metro record was a new-construction waterfront mansion on Lake Norman that sold for $11.5 million in July 2024, according to Corcoran HM Properties. The home is on Belle Isle Drive in Cornelius.
18 European-style equestrian stables
The couple’s new 9,986-square-foot abode is located on Pelham Lane, off N.C. 152 about 35 miles north of Charlotte.
The property has 18 European-style equestrian stables and an outdoor entertainment area that includes a vanishing edge upper pool, a pool house/cabana and a putting green, according to its listing.
The mansion has five bedrooms and six bathrooms, according to its listing. There’s a a fitness training center, 3-acre pond, guest housing and a covered horse-riding arena with a sound system.
