Kyle Busch held off Matt Kenseth to win the Furious 7 300 Xfinity Series race Saturday at Chicagoland Speedway.

It was a sweep for Busch and Kenseth, a pair of Cup drivers moonlighting in the Xfinity series who are also Joe Gibbs Racing teammates.

Kenseth gave up the lead to Busch on Lap 198, then rallied to briefly pass him with two laps remaining. But Busch snatched the lead right back and went on to win by .79 seconds.

Darrell Wallace Jr. finished third, best of the Xfinity drivers, with points leader Chris Buescher finishing seventh.

Busch, who started on the pole, led 102 of 200 laps, winning his 74th Xfinity race, which extends his series record.

Turning point

Kenseth appeared to take the lead with two laps remaining — actually passing Busch. But Busch quickly grabbed the lead back and cruised to the victory.

Three who mattered

Kyle Busch: He continues to win at whatever level he’s on — Cup, Xfinity or Trucks. If Busch wins Sunday’s Cup race, it wouldn’t be unprecedented for him; he swept Chicagoland’s weekend in 2008 as well.

Darrell Wallace Jr.: Was the top driver Xfinity series finisher (third), a career best.

Chris Buescher: The Xfinity points leader finished seventh and leads Ty Dillon (fifth) by 25 points.

Observations

▪ Wallace jokingly mentioned that since Busch and Kenseth are primarily Cup drivers — and not eligible for the Xfinity championship — that he should be declared the winner.
