An apparent Internet hoax, purporting that the NBA has pulled the 2017 NBA All-Star Game from Charlotte, has no basis in fact.

The Saturday report was on a web page designed to look like abcnews.com. A source close to the situation confirmed the report, as written, is without basis.

The report's headline said the event had been moved. The text within the report suggested the NBA would move the event in 30 days if a state law regarding sexual orientation and transgender rights is not repealed or modified.

The NBA has expressed public concern, as have many other businesses, with what has come to be known as HB2.

The hoax story suggested NBA commissioner Adam Silver met with Charlotte media last week. That never happened.
