Meet the Chiefs and Eagles players who will represent NC in the Super Bowl
Although the Carolina Panthers’ season ended weeks ago, there are a few faces that North Carolina football fans should recognize in the Super Bowl LVII matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs.
Eagles rookie defensive tackle Jordan Davis is from Charlotte and played football at Mallard Creek High School. Davis, the then-13th-ranked college prospect in North Carolina by 247Sports composite rankings then played at Georgia where he was a member of the Bulldogs’ 2022 national championship team.
He was selected 13th overall by the Eagles in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Eagles offensive guard Landon Dickerson, who attended Florida State before transferring to the University of Alabama and is from Hudson, a small town 70 miles northeast of Charlotte. He attended South Caldwell High School and was a four-star prospect, according to 247Sports.
Dickerson was named to his first career Pro Bowl this season after blocking for an offense that produced a franchise-record 57 touchdowns
Eagles defensive tackle Javon Hargrave, a Salisbury, native, was a North Rowan High School star and played for South Carolina State, an HBCU in Orangeburg, SC. Hargrave was drafted 89th overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2016 NFL Draft before signing with the Eagles as a free agent.
For the Kansas City Chiefs, rookie cornerback Joshua Williams, a Fayetteville native, will take the field on Sunday. Williams graduated from Jack Britt High School where he set a school record in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.65 seconds in 2017, The Fayetteville Observer reported. Williams then went on to play college football at Fayetteville State.
Super Bowl LVII will kickoff at 6:30 p.m. Sunday and be televised on FOX.
