Carolina Panthers’ Graham Gano has intriguing extra point idea

Amid talk of eliminating the extra point, Carolina Panthers kicker Graham Gano proposed a solution.

Gano wants the snap for the point-after attempt to stay at the 2, but all signs point to the extra point being effectively eliminated sooner rather than later. So on Twitter, Gano proposed awarding a point when kickers boot the kickoff through the uprights.

“Kind of yeah, halfway joking,” Gano said. “I think it’d be an advantage for the guys (with bigger legs) and an extra incentive to score more points. Fans love seeing points and it’d add a little excitement to the game.”
