What he offers: Funchess is another big receiver for Cam Newton. He has game speed despite running a 4.70 at the combine (and improving that at his pro day with a 4.47). Teams are going to have trouble covering Funchess and Kelvin Benjamin while also defending against the potential for Cam Newton’s rushing ability.

Worth mentioning: Funchess had an 8.8 percent drop rate at Michigan. The NCAA average last season was 8.3 percent. ... He’s only 20 years old and won’t be 21 for another three weeks, so he has several years to reach his high ceiling.

Bet you didn’t know: Funchess is the only Michigan player on the Panthers’ roster, which has more players from rival Ohio State than any other school.
