Carolina Panthers, round 4, pick 102 | Daryl Williams
Daryl Williams
Ht.: 6-6. Wt.: 329.
Position: Offensive tackle.
College: Oklahoma.
What he offers: Williams is a true right tackle after playing all but one of his college games at the position. He improved from second-team All-Big 12 to the first team from his junior to senior year.
Worth mentioning: The Panthers pulled off their second trade of the draft to get Williams by sending their fourth- (124), fifth- (161) and seventh-round (242) picks to the Raiders to move to 102. ... The Panthers had a high third-round grade on Williams. ... Panthers assistant offensive line coach Ray Brown worked out Williams two weeks ago.
Bet you didn’t know: Williams had offers from every Big 12 school except Texas coming out of high school.
What they’re saying: “I’ve told you guys a million times, and (New York Giants coach) Tom Coughlin said it best: ‘Big men allow you to compete.’” – Panthers GM Dave Gettleman.
