Panthers place rookie LT Greg Little on IR, add WR Chris Hogan to active roster

The Panthers have activated wide receiver Chris Hogan from injured reserve and placed rookie left tackle Greg Little on IR.

Hogan has been on IR since Week 4 when he suffered a knee injury on a special teams play against the Texans. He had arthroscopic knee surgery with no ligament injury and a bone bruise.

Hogan said the rehab was a frustrating process that took longer than he expected, but he will now have a chance to play with three games left. He was designated for return earlier this week. Look for Hogan to potentially play a role returning kicks. Carolina has struggled to find consistency in the area and he could get a shot in the return game. He had three receptions for 24 yards so far in his first season in Carolina.

Interim head coach Perry Fewell spoke earlier this week on what having Hogan back would mean to the Panthers.

“Obviously Chris has championship-caliber play in his blood,” Fewell said. “From our perspective, if he can help us win a game, that’s the value.”

On the other side of things, this is a tough way for Little to end his season. The second-round pick played in just four games while dealing with two concussions and an ankle injury. Little and the Panthers had hoped he would return this year, but Fewell acknowledged Friday that this may be more of a “redshirt” year for the rookie.
