Panthers Christian McCaffrey out-starred by a hedgehog in Super Bowl commercial

Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey and NASCAR driver Kyle Busch appear in a Super Bowl commercial in which a spiny mammal is the star.

“I’ve studied the best spin moves,” McCaffrey says in the commercial promoting the Feb. 14 release of the digitally animated Hollywood movie ‘Sonic the Hedgehog.’ “His? Legendary.”

Says Busch: “I’m wild. But he’s on another level.”

The Cup Series champ later adds: “He’s just a blur out there.”

“That dude?” McCaffrey says. “He knows it’s all about the rings.”

He was referring to Sonic’s rings in the character’s video game series.

Star sprinter Allyson Felix and New Orleans Saints receiver Michael Thomas also appear in the commercial.

At the end, all of them ask: “What’s this for again?”

“Great question,” Sonic replies. “I have no idea. But please, McCaffrey, go on about how amazing I am.”
