We’re hosting a Panthers NFL draft watch party during quarantine and want you to come
Nightly routines are getting a little redundant in this stay-at-home world.
Finish work, eat dinner, then turn on the TV and flip between streaming services until settling on whatever you’re going to watch for the rest of the night. Some of us live alone. Other have significant others and kids who join them on the couch, and as entertaining as their commentary is, some nights we can’t help but miss watching live sports surrounded by fellow sports fans.
We’d like to watch the NFL draft with you.
Unfortunately, we can’t all go to Whiskey Warehouse and aggressively argue in person about how the Panthers just made the best/worst first-round pick in their history Thursday night. But we can still hang out together and aggressively argue virtually.
The Observer is hosting a watch party on Zoom during Thursday’s first round of the NFL draft. Our sports staff will be there, hopping in to interact with Panthers fans and answer any questions you may have. More importantly for this, though, is you, and the chance to enjoy the camaraderie of watching sports with fellow Panthers fans.
To join the watch party, go to tinyurl.com/panthers-draft beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday. Enter the password “CLTnotCHA” (case-sensitive), then enjoy some (hopefully) lively conversation with Carolina fans. We’ll keep the room open until midnight.
We only have 4 rules:
- Try to keep the language PG. A PG-13 slip up is forgivable, but R-rated language will get you bounced.
- Keep your webcam on. If you want to temporarily hide yourself to take a bite of pizza or your child runs in the room, that’s OK, but this is meant to be about community, seeing and interacting with each other.
- Mute your mic when you’re not talking. Otherwise, there will be an audio feedback loop that will drive everyone nuts.
- Keep your clothes on. Please.
