We miss sports. The NFL Draft is about to provide some. Here’s how you can join LIVE
Thursday night, we’ll finally get to stop talking about the NFL draft and finally get to live it.
As the NFL holds its 2020 draft virtually with coaches and executives stuck at home due to the coronavirus pandemic, you’ll be as close to the action sitting on your couch and watching it on TV as Matt Rhule and Marty Hurney are. Well, minus actually having the power to make picks.
If you’re a Panthers fan, there’s a way to take a front-row seat in the Carolinas as the excitement unfolds.
Beginning at 7:30 p.m., the Observer will be working with The Kansas City Star and other McClatchy publications around the country to broadcast live draft coverage and analysis via Facebook all night. Blair Kerkhoff will anchor a “second-screen” livestream that will be available on Facebook and CharlotteObserver.com.
We’ll be projecting and discussing all 32 first-round picks as they come in, debating who your favorite team should be targeting and remembering some epic moments from previous drafts — such as 2011, when the Panthers drafted Cam Newton with the first overall pick. Plus, reporters who cover the teams and know them best will come on to provide their expert analysis about the selections.
From the first pick of 2020 (held by the Cincinnati Bengals) to the last (the Chiefs), we’ll be with you all night to bring you inside analysis and answer some of your best questions on the air.
We’ll also be talking about Football Fan Heroes, our call for you to nominate someone special who’s gone beyond the pale in helping his or her neighbors manage life during these difficult times. The winner, determined next month, will receive a pair of tickets to an upcoming Panthers game at Bank of America Stadium.
