Panthers claim three players off waivers. Here’s what you need to know about them

After trimming their roster down to 53 players Saturday, the Carolina Panthers claimed three players off the waiver wire Sunday, tied for the most in the league.

While the claims didn’t include a tight end, the Panthers picked up defensive back Rasul Douglas, defensive end Shareef Miller and offensive tackle Trenton Scott.

To make room for those players, though, the Panthers waived defensive end Efe Obada, a fan favorite; safety Kenny Robinson Jr.; and offensive tackle Matt Kaskey.

Obada, who was born in Nigeria, was a victim of human trafficking as a child. He was trafficked to the Netherlands when he was 10 and was homeless with his sister in London, living in and out of foster homes.

Obada, who is 6-foot-6, 265 pounds, found football at 21 with the London Warriors football team, and eventually made it to the NFL through its International Player Pathway program. He appeared in 26 games in two seasons for the Panthers.

Robinson was drafted in the fifth round by the Panthers, and Kaskey was undrafted in 2019.

Here’s more information on each of the three players the Panthers claimed Sunday:
