Meanwhile in New England ... Cam Newton looks like Superman in his Patriots debut
Cam Newton insists he’s healthy and has a lot of football left.
Before Sunday’s 21-11 win over Miami, Newton wore a banana-yellow double-breasted suit and shoes with no socks. He also released a preview of a video that will show what he did during the spring as a somewhat angry unsigned free agent after the Carolina Panthers cut him.
And Sunday, Newton looked a lot like a guy who could resurrect his career in the Northeast.
He had two rushing touchdowns in the first half. After the first score, he crossed his arms across his chest like Marvel Comics’ Black Panther, paying tribute to the late South Carolina-born actor, Chadwick Boseman, who portrayed the character in film.
For the game, Newton completed 15-of-19 passes for 155 yards. He ran 15 times for 75 yards and two touchdowns, leading all rushers for the game.
Patriots fans seemed pretty excited to get a former NFL MVP for a bargain basement price to replace future Hall of Famer Tom Brady.
