Carolina Panthers

Inactive players for Panthers vs. Chargers: 2 of Carolina’s top linemen injured

The Panthers’ blockbuster trade of the offseason was trading guard Trai Turner to the Los Angeles Chargers in exchange for left tackle Russell Okung.

When the two teams face Sunday afternoon at SoFi Stadium, however, neither will be playing in the game.

Both players are out with groin injuries.

Second-year left tackle Greg Little will start in Okung’s place.

Guard Dennis Daley is missing a third-straight game with an ankle injury. Chris Reed will start for him instead of former Chargers Michael Schofield, who started the last two games. Reed spent the last three weeks on the league’s reserve/COVID-19 list.

Despite Christian McCaffrey being placed on the injured reserve list with a high ankle sprain, RB Trenton Cannon is one of the inactives in Sunday’s game. The team called up RB Reggie Bonnafon from the practice squad Saturday.

Quarterback Will Grier will backup Teddy Bridgewater. Grier and P.J. Walker have switched off the first three games of the year.
