Christian McCaffrey ruled out of today’s Panthers vs Eagles game
Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey has officially been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Eagles with a hamstring strain.
Rookie running back Chuba Hubbard will start in his place. The game kicks off at 1 p.m. on FOX.
McCaffrey had practiced all week in a limited capacity and said he felt like he could play. But the Panthers listed him as doubtful in Friday’s injury report. Panthers coach Matt Rhule said McCaffrey would try to do some things on Saturday to see where he was health-wise.
Left tackle Cameron Erving (neck) and linebacker Shaq Thompson (foot) had previously been ruled Friday and did not practice.
Right tackle Taylor Moton will move over to left tackle and rookie Brady Christensen will start at right tackle.
Christian McCaffrey injury history
McCaffrey suffered a hamstring strain in the Sept. 23 win over Houston and missed the Panthers’ game last weekend against the Cowboys.
This will be the second game he has missed this season, and 15th game he has missed in two seasons.
McCaffrey missed 13 games in 2020 with various injuries ranging from an AC joint injury, a high ankle sprain and a quad injury.
