Carolina Panthers add new coaches to their staff who have ties to Ben McAdoo
The Carolina Panthers put the final touches on their offensive staff, announcing three new moves Monday.
They hired Boston College wide receivers coach Joe Dailey to coach the receivers, Robert Kugler as the assistant offensive line coach and moved defensive analyst Kevin Gilbride to tight ends coach.
Gilbride replaced tight ends coach Brian Angelichio, who is leaving to pursue another opportunity, the team said in a press release.
These additions rounded out a number of offseason moves made by coach Matt Rhule tries to bolster his offensive staff in wake of his second five-win season.
Most of the offensive hires had ties to new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo, who was hired last month.
Dailey, a former UNC quarterback and wide receiver, spent the last two seasons coaching the receivers at Boston College. He also spent a year as the quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator at New Mexico, and seven seasons at Liberty.
He played for and coached under veteran assistant Frank Cignetti, who was McAdoo’s quarterback coach with the Giants.
Gilbride, who moved to tight ends coach, coached tight ends for the Giants while McAdoo was offensive coordinator and head coach there.
The Panthers ranked 30th in the league in total offense last season and 29th in points per game.
