Carolina Panthers

Carolina Panthers release their full schedule for the 2022 season. Here are the dates.

Since the 2018 season, the Carolina Panthers have opened up each season at home. This year will be no different, as the Panthers will host the Cleveland Browns in their season opener at Bank of America Stadium.

The game has the potential to have a number of interesting storylines, depending on how the rest of the offseason plays out.

The Panthers tried for a year to acquire former Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson and were one of the final four teams in the running for him, before he agreed to be traded to the Cleveland Browns on a fully guaranteed deal.

The Panthers then engaged in trade talks with the Browns for quarterback Baker Mayfield late last month during the draft. Trade talks fell through and the Panthers drafted quarterback Matt Corral in the third round.

But they haven’t completely shut the door on the possibility of acquiring Mayfield.

If the Browns were to agree to take on a significant portion of Mayfield’s salary in a trade, then the Panthers will re-engage.

So by Week 1, Mayfield could be starting for the Panthers in a revenge game against the Browns.

The NFL loves its drama.

The Panthers will play their Week 2 game on Sept. 18 on the road because Bank of America Stadium will be occupied by an Elton John concert later that night.

The New York Giants announced that they will host the Panthers in their season-opener. The Panthers lost to the Giants 25-3 last season. It was one of their most disappointing games of the season.

Carolina has the 12th toughest strength of schedule based on its 2021 opponents’ win percentage. Seven of their opponents were playoff teams, including the Cincinnati Bengals (Week 9) and the Los Angeles Rams (Week 6).

The Panthers play five teams who were in the 2021 playoffs between Weeks 4-9.

The Panthers social media team revealed the schedule with a 90’s throwback theme. Here’s the video:

Panthers fans can purchase single game tickets as soon as 9 p.m. on ticketmaster.com or panthers.com/tickets.

Like last season, the Panthers will play 17 games in 18 weeks. Nine of those games will be at home, while eight will be on the road.
